A weak DS version of a well-known game
This game is clearly based on the widely known 'Assassin's Creed' games. However, in terms of quality, this game does not come close to any of the 'real' games on the gaming consoles. The controls are not as easy, the graphics are decent for the DS but still not really impressive. If you want to play an 'Assassin's Creed' game, you're better off playing the PSP versions or the versions on the actual gaming consoles.

Simplified Assassin’s Creed experience on the go
Assassin’s Creed for the Nintendo DS is a streamlined version of its bigger brothers on the consoles. In my opinion, it offers a fun stealth-based action experience with platforming elements. Although the graphics and controls can sometimes be frustrating, it’s impressive that they managed to bring a game like Assassin’s Creed to the DS.

The levels can feel a bit repetitive at times and lack the impressive scale of the console versions. The story is also less in-depth. But still, if you’re looking for an Assassin’s Creed experience on the go, this DS version is a decent choice. The developers have done their best to capture the essence of the series despite the platform's limitations.

It’s a shame that the frame rate can stutter at times, which occasionally disrupts the gameplay experience. Nevertheless, it’s commendable that they managed to pull off such an ambitious project on a handheld. For Nintendo DS owners who are fans of the series, it’s definitely worth giving it a go.

Ambitious attempt with limitations on the Nintendo DS
Assassin’s Creed for the Nintendo DS is an ambitious attempt to translate the popular franchise to a handheld platform. In this game, you follow Altair on a completely new adventure set between the events of the original Assassin’s Creed. In my opinion, the gameplay focuses heavily on stealth, platforming, and combat, but I noticed that the transition to the DS brings a number of limitations. The side-scrolling 2.5D perspective is a creative approach, but the controls often feel stiff and the animations are rather limited.

The graphical presentation is quite impressive for the capabilities of the DS, but I found that the world lacks the vibrancy and detail we are used to from the console versions. The story provides some extra context for fans of the series, but unfortunately, it leaves little impact. The characters are not as well developed as in the larger games, making it difficult to truly immerse yourself in the story.

All in all, Assassin’s Creed for the Nintendo DS is an interesting attempt to bring the series to a handheld. While the game presents some good ideas, it clearly struggles to fully realise the ambitions of the franchise on this platform. It’s enjoyable for fans wanting to learn more about Altair, but don’t expect an experience that matches the console versions.

Compact and Smooth Assassin's Creed Experience on the DS
The familiar elements of Assassin's Creed are nicely translated to a handheld: this is a surprisingly good and compact version of the well-known console games! Despite the limitations of the DS, the game perfectly conveys the intense action, parkour, and stealth that make the franchise so popular. The controls are smooth, the combat is enjoyable, and exploring the city is a delight. You can leap across rooftops, sneak up on enemies, and kill with style, all without it becoming too difficult to manage on a handheld. It may not be as large or graphically stunning as the console games, but it is definitely a fantastic "pocket" experience that you shouldn't miss!

A brief experience
Assassin's Creed is the first game in the series for the DS. It's a fun game that has many connections to its counterparts on the console. The game is quite small; it will take about 4 hours to complete it entirely, however, it's not a punishment to play the game again on a higher difficulty level. The game offers few surprises and sometimes the gameplay is a bit clunky, making the experience not always smooth.
