Touchscreen controls have never been this convenient!
Mario Slam Basketball is the only Mario sports game on the DS, which is quite unfortunate. The game is actually very good. I would have liked to see more Mario sports games of this caliber. What makes the game so good, you may wonder? Let me tell you!

The game utilizes touchscreen controls, often a reason for many players to lose interest immediately. In this game, it works surprisingly well! You tap on the touchscreen to dribble the ball, and through swipe movements, you can attempt to score by shooting or dunking. Even the special moves of each character can be executed in this way.

Furthermore, the character selection is incredibly strong! Even Final Fantasy characters are included! The variety of basketball courts is fantastic as well! There is a Luigi's Mansion court where ghosts bother you, and a court where Petey Piranhas serve as baskets! Moreover, the number of courts is also vast!

In terms of game modes, there is plenty of choice. You can try to win tournaments to unlock content. This can become quite challenging, especially in the final tournaments! Additionally, there is a Challenge Mode and Dribble Race, both of which are very entertaining. And of course, there is the option to play together with up to 4 players. For this, Download Play (1 copy of the game) is partially supported.

Super Slam Dunks!
Mario Slam Basketball: a super fun game. I played this a long time ago, quite late after its release. The game runs very smoothly, which honestly surprised me. Shooting the ball is enjoyable, and the super shots with the main characters look awesome. It's a cool concept that the more points you gather, the more points you get when you score.

Unique touchscreen usage!
For a basketball game on the Nintendo DS, they certainly didn't do a bad job.

The graphics of Mario Slam Basketball are naturally not the best because it is and remains an NDS that doesn't exactly have the best hardware, but it's certainly not bad. You can still see everything on the screen, and it looks good enough to see where everything is.

The controls are also a lot better than you might expect because it has the standard things like walking with the d-pad, but what makes the controls in this game so unique is the use of the touchscreen. The touchscreen is used to throw the ball into the net with a nice trick that is very fun to do, but don't be mistaken because some tricks are very difficult to pull off. To do a trick, you have to draw a pattern on the screen, and each trick has a different pattern required, so some are trickier than others.

Furthermore, the soundtrack is varied and very enjoyable to listen to, and the levels have a good level of difficulty.
