When I played MySims SkyHeroes for the Nintendo DS, I noticed that the game tries to combine the distinctive charm of the MySims series with exciting aerial battles. The gameplay is simple and accessible, which is nice for players who are just starting out. There are missions where you take out enemies and fly races, but I found the controls unfortunately a bit limited. For a flying game, you would expect the controls to be precise and responsive, but that’s not always the case here.
The presentation of the game is colourful, which is typical of the MySims style, but the graphical limitations of the DS are clearly noticeable. The world lacks detail, and as a result, the action can sometimes come across as chaotic. I was disappointed that the handheld version doesn’t offer the same dynamic experience as the console versions. This edition feels simplified and lacks the engaging elements you would expect from an aerial combat game.
