Thrilling Story
In 999, you play as Junpei, a boy trapped on a ship who, along with eight others, must find a door with the number nine on it. If they fail to do so, a bomb inside their bodies will explode. The story is incredibly thrilling, and most of the game consists of reading. However, there are also puzzle rooms where you must navigate your way through. These puzzles are challenging but never too difficult, providing a nice break from the nerve-wracking tension of the story. This story has six drastically different endings that you must see to fully understand everything. The only downside is that you have to play the game six times and therefore solve the same puzzles multiple times. Apart from that, Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors brings you one of the most thrilling stories available on the DS.

The best DS Game in my opinion
This is by far the best story in a DS game that exists. This game is part of the Zero Escape series. This is the first part. You are trapped on a cruise ship with 8 other people and your goal is to escape through the number 9 door.

To achieve this, they must go through numbered doors. These are doors that require 3 to 5 people whose digital root equals the number of that door in order to pass through.
Read more...

(To calculate the digital root, you add up each digit of the number until you have a single digit remaining. For example,
29 = 2+9 = 11 = 1+1 = 2 The digital root of 29 is therefore 2)

Behind each numbered door, you must solve one or more puzzles. These are escape room-like puzzles. They turn out to be very enjoyable, but I am too impatient for this, so I always googled the solutions. If you plan to do the same, only search for the solutions to the puzzles, and under no circumstances anything else. You can easily get spoiled here.

Whether you should buy this game depends.
This game was made for the DS, but it was later remade for the PS4 and PC with voice acting and a timeline so that you have to start all over again each time you reach an ending.

However, because this game was made for the DS, it requires two screens. A PlayStation does not have that. As a result, they had to adjust the ending, and this adjustment has not been positive.

Furthermore, if you want to play this series, you should also buy the PC version. This game and its sequel are sold on Steam as Zero Escape: The Nonary Games. The sequel to this game on 3DS actually has save-corrupting bugs, making it practically unplayable.

Still, I recommend buying Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors. This game series is the best game series I have ever played and maybe will ever play. That's why you should get the most out of your first time playing the series. For this, the DS version is required.

Amazing
Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is an amazing game with one of the best storylines you'll find on the DS. In "999," you have to escape from a dangerous cruise ship, but of course, you're not alone. It's possible to interact with other victims, but are they really victims? The game has many plot twists, keeping you on the edge of your seat, never knowing what will happen next. Combined with multiple endings, this makes it a game you definitely should play!

Engaging Visual Novel with Intriguing Puzzles
A game and story to spend your time on.

Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors is truly a super engaging visual novel with clever puzzles and a very intriguing story! You find yourself trapped with eight other people on a mysterious boat and must escape by solving puzzles. The story has unexpected twists and multiple endings that enhance the replay value. I've completed the game twice already and still come across new things.

The graphic style is simple, but the atmosphere is captivating. The puzzles range from easy to challenging, but never frustrating. It's a unique and interesting experience for fans of puzzles and stories. Although the pace can sometimes be slow, you need to take your time when starting this game!
