First version of the Dual Screen Nintendo.
This is the first version of the Nintendo DS that was released. What's new is that there are two screens, with the lower screen being a touch screen. The system can play both DS games and GBA games. All NDS systems cannot play 3DS games; you really need a 2DS or 3DS for that.

The DS doesn't break easily. They just keep on working. Even the battery is still going strong after all these years. Impressive technology!

Despite this first Nintendo DS looking robust, the hinge is a weak point. Often, you will come across this DS damaged or repaired.

For children, I recommend a DS Lite. Gamers, I suggest going for a DSi XL. Collectors, of course, should not miss this milestone in gaming history in their collection!

Gorgeous console
The original (phat) DS was a console that was far ahead of its time. A touchscreen in 2004, that was a very big deal back then. However, a redesign was needed to convince the public how great this console was.

In my opinion, I still find this first version better than the DS Lite. This is because of the buttons. I find the buttons of the original DS much nicer than the buttons of the DS Lite. I also think that the appearance of the phat DS exudes much more character than its successor.

The game library of the Nintendo DSi is superb, it is very large and there are also real gems among them. An example of this is 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors. This game makes such good use of the two screens that this game does not work on other consoles. There are more games that make very good use of the possibilities of the DS, making the games unable to be ported to other consoles.

In short, the DS is one of the most unique consoles. With a unique library of games. Definitely worth trying out.
