Return to Unova!
Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 are the successors to the original Black and White. Black and White were fantastic games, so this game will be even better, right? Well yes, for me, this is true, and I will explain in detail what makes this game so fantastic! Just be aware that I might reveal some spoilers before you continue reading.

Let's start with the first thing, the story. The story is my favorite out of all the Pokémon game stories. The story takes place 2 years after the events in Black and White. You see how the characters have evolved psychologically over those 2 years and how their goals have changed. The best part of the story is seeing how Team Plasma has split into 2 groups (one group abuses Pokémon, the other takes care of them). There are also new characters that appear on the scene such as the playable characters Nate and Rosa, Hugh, and a few new gym leaders. Nate, Rosa, and Hugh also have a great appearance, by which I mean that their personality and appearance perfectly complement each other. You can also connect with Black and White via Memory Link; if you do this, certain characters will share their memories of events in those games!

Next are the graphics, these games really showcase what the DS is capable of in terms of graphics and visuals. The world you travel in and the characters (which I already mentioned) look beautiful, as do the Pokémon battles. Speaking of battles, Pokémon now have animated sprites, meaning they move when you choose a move, making the battles look more 'real' in a good way.

Of course, there are many more positives about the game, but there are also 2 downsides I'd like to discuss with you:
1. No more online features! This is the one I am least satisfied with. Why Nintendo? Why did you discontinue the wonderful world of Online DS games? *cries*
2. Once you have completed the game, there isn't much more to do. There is also no Battle Frontier, which is a shame because the one in Pokémon Platinum was very challenging and fun.

But in my opinion, the pros still outweigh the cons. And this game is definitely one of the best games in the entire franchise!

Excellent Pokemon game aimed at an older audience
The storyline in this game is very well done. The characters are older and the story is darker. Pokémon Black Version 2 has improved in many aspects compared to Pokémon Black. It's not always big differences but also small things like music and rivals. This is an excellent game, it is more targeted towards an older audience than most other Pokémon games.

Every Pokémon player knows that the goal is to create a team of 6 Pokémon to defeat the 8 gym leaders and elite 4 of Pokémon Black Version 2. Creating a team is not easy for everyone. However, there is one big tip when creating a team and that is: create a varied and balanced team. Make sure that each team member can cover the weaknesses of another team member and avoid using Pokémon with the same type.

Which Pokémon are shinylocked in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2?

Even though this isn't exactly a tip, shiny hunters might still find this information useful. In this game, there are actually a few shiny locks. This means that certain Pokémon are programmed to never appear as shiny. Let's discuss which Pokémon are shinylocked:
There aren't actually many shinylocked Pokémon, the only Pokémon that are shinylocked are Zekrom in Black Version 2 and Reshiram in White 2.
All other Pokémon in the game, wild Pokémon, the legendaries I haven't mentioned, and all the rest can indeed be shiny, so definitely don't wonder whether the Pokémon you're hunting is shinylocked or not.

Why wouldn't you use the Master Ball on Reshiram or Zekrom?

I know this tip might sound really strange, as the Master Ball is meant to catch the legendary Pokémon of the game, but there is a good explanation behind it.

Zekrom and Reshiram are actually quite easy to catch, with a capture rate of 45. They even share this rate with non-legendary Pokémon. What's even crazier is the fact that you have about a ~6% chance of catching them with a regular Poké Ball when they still have all their HP (and yes, HP does play a role in catching a Pokémon). The capture rate can be increased by lowering their HP, giving them a status condition like sleep or paralysis, and using an Ultra Ball also doubles the chance. If you do all of this, the likelihood of catching them is very high. So, save your rarest Poké Ball for a moment when you really need it (e.g. when you encounter a Shiny and have run out of all your other Poké Balls).

In the game, there is a 1/8192 chance of encountering a Pokémon with a different color than usual. These Pokémon are also known as Shiny Pokémon. The odds are very slim, but there is a way to slightly increase them, with this item: the Shiny Charm.

Once you have completed the National Pokédex (meaning you have seen and caught all Pokémon), you need to visit Professor Juniper in Nuvema Town of Pokémon Black Version 2. She will congratulate you and give you the Shiny Charm. Now you have a ~1/2048 chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon in the wild, approximately 3 times more often than before.

Not in the mood to level up a Pokémon or use an evolution stone? No worries, in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, there are various phenomena (shaking grass, whirlpools, and dust clouds) where you have a chance to catch fully evolved Pokémon! Here is a complete list of those rare Pokémon!

To make a phenomenon appear, you need to walk/bike through or near the grass/water, or run in a cave.

How can I transfer Pokémon to Black/Black 2/White/White 2?

Once you've completed the game Pokémon Black Version 2, head over to route 15 (east of Nimbasa City). There you'll come across the Poké Transfer Lab. This is where you can transfer Pokémon from generation 4 (which includes Pokémon from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver) to Black/Black 2/White/White 2 if you have 2 DS systems.

IMPORTANT! YOU CANNOT TRANSFER POKEMON IF THE LANGUAGE/REGION OF THE 2 GAMES DIFFER (for example: Dutch/English version of HeartGold and a German/American version of Black 2)

The regions and languages are as follows: English (Europe), German, French, Japanese, English (American), Chinese, and Italian.

You can transfer them via Download Play. However, you'll need to play a mini-game first to obtain them.

Tip: make sure to place the Pokémon you want to transfer in an empty PC box (not in your party, as you won't be able to transfer them).

Ps: The transferred Pokémon CANNOT be brought back to the original game.
