Touchscreen Breaker!
In this Pokémon spin-off, the goal is to race with different Pokémon to be the first to reach the finish line. Your Pokémon moves as you swipe with your stylus across the touchscreen. It's no surprise that younger children ended up with scratches on the touchscreen.

In the single-player mode, you can only play with Pikachu, which most players found disappointing. The game is also not very long, which is a shame. Furthermore, during gameplay, it can be difficult to navigate where you need to go, and it can be frustrating not knowing which terrain slows you down and which doesn't.

The multiplayer is okay, but the game could have had more character by, for example, creating maps of places you know, like Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, or another continent.

Pokémon Dash can be fun, but if you're looking for a Pokémon spin-off, I would recommend exploring other options.

Boring game
You can't do a lot in Pokémon Dash. It's a racing game where you have to use the touchscreen. I won't buy it and will save up for a better Pokémon game instead.

Repetitive gameplay and frustrating touchscreen controls.
Pokémon Dash for the Nintendo DS is one of the less traditional Pokémon games. Controlling Pikachu in a racing format is a fun and fresh idea within the franchise. But for me, the game has its charm, but also its limitations. You use the touchscreen to make Pikachu run across various terrains. While this offers a fun experience at first, the gameplay soon feels repetitive. The controls work well initially, but can become frustrating over time due to the inaccuracy of the touchscreen.

The colourful visuals and the familiar Pokémon theme make the game appealing, especially for younger gamers who may be less demanding in terms of complexity. However, Pokémon Dash lacks depth and variety to truly keep players engaged for the long haul. In particular, older players will find that there is little challenge to be had. The idea of racing with Pikachu is amusing, but without additional elements or variation in the gameplay, it quickly loses its charm.

All in all, Pokémon Dash remains primarily a niche title within the Pokémon series. It offers brief enjoyment but lacks the elements that make other Pokémon games so addictive. If you’re looking for a game that can keep you entertained for a long time, then Pokémon Dash might not be the best choice. But for a short, colourful experience, it’s definitely worth a try.

Disappointing
First of all, it is important to know that Pokémon Dash is a spin-off of Pokémon that has very little to do with the main game series. Although the game uses Pokémon, this is a rather cunning trick to lure players into buying the game because apart from these Pokémon characters, the game has very little to do with Pokémon. It is a rather simple game with little depth, and if the game didn't have 'Pokémon' in its name, I don't think anyone would have bought it.

Product Description:

Wowie! Pokemon Dash is one of the first Pokemon games to come out for the Nintendo DS, and it's truly Fantastic! In this racing game, you take control of Pikachu and dash through various courses in an exhilarating race to claim the first place. The game utilizes the DS touchscreen, making the racing experience super interactive and fun. You must guide Pikachu through different terrains like grass, sand, and water, while collecting power-ups along the way to defeat your opponents. Developed by Ambrella and released by Nintendo in 2005.

Historical Context:

When Pokemon Dash was released, it was one of the first games to leverage the unique capabilities of the Nintendo DS, such as the touchscreen. Although it didn't achieve the same level of popularity as the core RPG Pokemon games, it was an intriguing and fresh addition to the Pokemon franchise. It introduced a whole new genre for Pokemon, allowing fans to engage with their favorite characters in a different way.

Expert Reviews:

According to IGN: "Pokemon Dash is an interesting take on the racing genre, but it doesn’t quite reach the heights of other Pokemon spin-offs. The touch controls are innovative, but can be frustrating at times."
GameSpot said: "While it’s fun to see Pikachu in a racing game, Pokemon Dash falls short in terms of depth and replay value."

Target Audience:

Pokemon Dash is perfect for younger players and Pokemon enthusiasts looking for a fun and accessible racing experience. If you've always wanted to race with Pikachu and other Pokemon, then this game is definitely for you! It's also a great choice for collectors aiming to complete their Pokemon collection. Fantastic, isn't it?
