Product Description

Hello everyone, I'm Mr. M. and I'm super excited to tell you about Shrek the Third for the Nintendo DS! This Fantastic game is based on the movie of the same name and takes you on an adventure through the kingdom of Far Far Away. You play as Shrek and his friends, including Donkey, Puss in Boots, Fiona, and more, as you navigate through various levels full of action, puzzles, and mini-games. The developers, Amaze Entertainment, have really put their best efforts to capture the humor and charm of the film in the game. The gameplay is a mix of platforming, combat, and puzzle-solving. You'll enjoy the funny dialogues and colorful environments this game has to offer.

Historical Context

Shrek the Third was released in 2007, around the same time as the movie. The Shrek franchise was already hugely popular then, thanks to the earlier films and games. The game brought the beloved characters and humor to the Nintendo DS, allowing fans of the film series to have even more fun. Over the years, Shrek the Third has become a classic among DS games, especially for those who have nostalgic memories of the film and the franchise.

When I'm Not Working...

Haha! Did you know that I, Mr. M., often dream about adventures in Far Far Away? Imagine me traveling through the kingdom with Yoshi and Luma. Yoshi would jump on his back to navigate through levels quickly, while Luma would help us solve puzzles with magical powers. And of course, I would widen my big eyes at every funny joke Shrek makes. That would be truly Fantastic!

Frustrating controls and countless bugs ruin the experience.
Numerous errors frustrating design choices ugly graphics and bugs make Shrek the Third a lot less enjoyable.

For a child-friendly movie game the environmental puzzles in this game are quite challenging. You play as Shrek the Cat and Arthur each with their own strengths that allow them to access certain areas. They need to clear the way so the other two can progress as well. The controls are a mix of touchscreen and buttons and unfortunately really terrible. The screen often misreads your movements causing you to do things you wouldn’t want to. The animations are hideously ugly the voice acting consists of one or two one-liners that are endlessly repeated with every swipe or movement making you turn the sound down to zero after a few times. The difficulty level ranges from ridiculously easy to maddeningly frustrating (the boss battles among others). The levels can be really long and without any checkpoints. There are countless glitches and bugs such as Shrek getting stuck between a wall and an enemy and endlessly screaming in a wrong animation. The finish of this game is enough to make you cry while the depth of some levels makes you think that this could have been an unexpected platform/puzzle gem.
