Mr M's Adventure
Haha! Imagine me, Mr. M., in SpongeBob's dream world! I would be racing and flying through the craziest situations with Yoshi and Luma. Perhaps we'd even make a Krabby Patty as big as a house! It would truly be Fantastic to play with my friends in this colorful and wacky world. Bleh for boring games, but this one is truly top-notch!
Colourful dream worlds with varying gameplay and inconsistency
SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature of the Krusty Krab for the Nintendo DS is a unique and vibrant journey through the dream worlds of our favourite characters from the series. I think it’s fun that the game regularly switches styles and gameplay, from platforming to racing. This provides variety, but it also makes the game a bit inconsistent. At times it feels like the developers couldn’t decide what they wanted to create.
The visual style made me feel like I was really in the cartoon. The humour of the series comes through well, and that’s definitely a plus. However, I find the controls a bit frustrating at times. They aren’t always very precise, which can be annoying especially in the racing sections. Some parts of the game are unnecessarily difficult, which doesn’t always enhance the gaming experience.
While SpongeBob’s charm is certainly present, the game feels more like an experimental snack than a fully fleshed-out adventure. If you’re a big fan of SpongeBob, you’ll definitely enjoy it. But for a truly in-depth gaming experience, you might want to look for another title.
